    [color="White"]Updated Debian 6.0: 6.0.1 released

    19.03.2011

    The Debian project is pleased to announce the first update of its stable distribution Debian 6.0 (codename squeeze). This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustment to serious problems.
    Please note that this update does not constitute a new version of Debian 6.0 but only updates some of the packages included. There is no need to throw away 6.0 CDs or DVDs but only to update via an up-to-date Debian mirror after an installation, to cause any out of date packages to be updated.
    Those who frequently install updates from security.debian.org won't have to update many packages and most updates from security.debian.org are included in this update.
    New CD and DVD images containing updated packages and the regular installation media accompanied with the package archive respectively will be available soon at the regular locations.
    Upgrading to this revision online is usually done by pointing the aptitude (or apt) package tool (see the sources.list(5) manual page) to one of Debian's many FTP or HTTP mirrors. A comprehensive list of mirrors is available at:

    * wait longer for disks to initialize.

    Furthermore it now supports installation on the following hardware:

    Debian "Squeeze" auf Version 6.0.1 aktualisiert

    Das Debian-Projekt hat ein erstes Update für Debian 6.0 (Codename Squeeze) veröffentlicht, das seit Anfang Februar verfügbar ist. Version 6.0.1 korrigiert in erster Linie Sicherheitsprobleme und einige schwerwiegende Fehler.

    Viele der aktualisierten Pakete wurden schon vorher über security.debian.org verteilt. Wer diese Quelle nutzt, um sein System auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten, muss den Entwicklern zufolge nur wenige Dateien herunterladen. Daher können Installationsmedien wie DVDs weiter verwendet werden.

    Insgesamt schließt das Update 27 Sicherheitslücken und behebt knapp 70 Fehler. Beispielsweise wurden Schwachstellen im Browser Chromium und der Blogging-Software Wordpress beseitigt sowie Komponenten von KDE und der Linux-Kernel aktualisiert. Eine Liste aller Änderungen findet sich im Changelog.

    Auch den Debian-Installer hat das Projekt überarbeitet. So waren bisher einige Tastatur-Layouts während der Installation nicht nutzbar, darunter Schweizerdeutsch, Bulgarisch und Schwedisch. Zudem wartet der Installer nun länger auf die Initialisierung von Festplatten.

    Den Hardware-Support haben die Entwickler ebenfalls erweitert. Beispielsweise werden jetzt NAS-Geräte von Qnap und Buffalo unterstützt. Die Distribution kann ab sofort auch wieder auf iBook G4, Cobalt und SPARC-Hardware installiert werden.

    Der Update-Prozess lässt sich mit dem Kommando upgrade in aptitude oder apt-get anstoßen. Neue Installationsmedien gibt es auf allen offiziellen Debian-Spiegelservern.
